1.1 Overall Importance
- The component is 50 percent of the overall grade.
- The raw marks are 75.
- Each mistake of 1 mark on the paper will take away 0.67 of the final grade
- It is easier to score around 95 plus in this component, which can compensate for any issues that may have occurred in the other component.

- 5 Questions – Have to do 3 per choice
- 25 marks per question
- Each question has 4 sub-parts
- Each sub-part can have further sub-parts
- 2 main types of questions
- Knowledge based questions
- Quick knowledge check
- 1 or 2 marks
- For example, write the name of two inland ports of Pakistan
- Explanation
- 4-5 marks
- For example, what are the characteristics of a mangrove forest
- Argument
- 6 marks
- For example, discuss whether rice is the better crop in Pakistan or wheat
- Quick knowledge check
- Interpretation Questions
- Chill questions – don’t require any prior knowledge
- Based on on-spot understanding
- For example, from the graph shown above, what is the total number of people in Pakistan
- For example, what trends are shown in the graph
- Such questions are easy mark gaining questions
- Knowledge based questions
- Selective study possible
- Need to prepare around 8-9 topics in full.
- Even if preparation is a little low, common sense is a life-saver for this component
- Remember, this is not an essay paper
- Write to the point, no extra
- Write in paragraph form
- Point form is risky
- Do NOT take an extra sheet – no need
