- Divided the stuff into question part a and part b
- Religion is sincerity.’ We said: ‘To whom?’ The Prophet said: ‘To Allah, his Book, his Messenger, the leaders of
the Muslims and to their common people- It talks about religion as being sincere and honest.
- Fundamentally, religion requires sincerity to Allah
- It means submitting oneself to Allah completely and being in complete connection with him
- Also, we need to follow the Quran closely and ensure that we don’t miss out on any of its injunctions
- It tells us to be in complete connection to the Messenger
- We must follow all the teachings of the Holy Prophet PBUH
- At the same time, a person must be loyal to the Muslim leader
- No uprising against the leader.
- Loyalty to the general Muslim public or the general body of the Muslims is mandatory as well.
- None of you believes until he wants for his brother what he wants for himself.
- This hadith teaches equality and selflessness
- It tells a person that to be a true believer, one must want exactly for his brother that he wants for himself
- In other words, we must never see other Muslims with bias.
- Believers are brothers unto one another.
- Therefore, it is mandatory for believers to love each other and want the best.
- Ansar and Muhajirin example applies when it comes to realistic brotherhood between Muslims.
- If a person does all other good things but does not want the best for his Muslim brother, then he is not a true Muslim
- Let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day either speak good or keep silent, and let him who believes in
Allah and the Last Day be generous to his neighbour, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be
generous to his guest- Here, some aspects of Muslim life have been named synonymously to the belief in Allah and the Day of Judgement.
- First, someone who believes in the two major articles of Islam must ensure that they only speak if something good is coming out of their mouth.
- If they are about to speak something that will cause problems or be a vice, then they should instead prefer to be silent.
- Secondly, the importance of neighbors in Islam has been mentioned as well. If someone isn’t good to his neighbor, it is the same as not having true belief in Allah and the last day
- 40 homes on each side are considered our neighbors
- Honoring one’s guests and behaving fruitfully with them is extremely important.
- Ensuring that we respect our guests and give them the best possible treatment can be considered synonymous to being a true believer.
- Religion is sincerity.’ We said: ‘To whom?’ The Prophet said: ‘To Allah, his Book, his Messenger, the leaders of
- A man asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace): Do you think that if I perform
the obligatory prayers, fast in Ramadan, treat as lawful that which is lawful and treat as forbidden that which is
forbidden, and do nothing further, I shall enter paradise? He said: Yes- This hadith tells us the simplest method to enter Jannah
- For someone who completes the aspects that are mentioned in this hadith, he has already met the obligations of the religion. Therefore, he can enter paradise.
- One key aspect here is that a person must ensure that he is performing the Farz prayers. Leaving them would mean that he can not enter Paradise.
- Secondly, keeping the fasts of Ramadan is important. Without fasting in Ramadan, a person can not enter paradise.
- At the same time, differentiating between halal and haram is extremely important.
- Someone, who does all the rightful things and protects himself from all the unlawful things has done enough to enter paradise
- The hadith shows that the basics of Islam are simple and can be easily fulfilled.
- Therefore, the focus should be on ensuring that one can fulfill the requirements of Islam and avoid any action that will be negative or problematic.
- Every person’s every joint must perform a charity every day the sun comes up: to act justly between two
people is a charity; to help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it is a
charity; a good word is a charity; every step you take to prayers is a charity; and removing a harmful thing from
the road is a charity.- The hadith stresses the importance of charity and the frequency with which it must be performed.
- It is incumbent on a person to give charity for every joint of his body every single day.
- However, charity is not just monetary contribution. In Islam, even small, helpful acts are considered charity.
- If someone makes a just decision between two people, it is considered a charitable act. Therefore, justice is considered a for of charity in Islam
- If someone has some luggage and is facing issues with it, you can help him and it will be considered an act of charity.
- Even carrying their stuff with them will constitute charity.
- Similarly, just saying one good word is charity. It shows that in Islam, performing charity is very easy and simple. Avoiding to speak foul and saying positive things will be considered a part of charity.
- In terms of prayer, prayer itself is an obligatory positive act. However, every step that is taken towards the Masjid is also counted as charity, which means that completing the 200+ charities a day is not difficult.
- If there is something on the road that can cause harm, or cause any vehicle to get damage, then removing it from the road will also be a part of charity.
- Whosoever of you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand, and if he is not able to do so then with
his tongue, and if he is not able to do so then with his heart, and that is the weakest of faith.- The hadith tells us how to deal with wrongdoing and evil actions.
- If something bad or immoral or negative is happening in front of our eyes, and we have the power to stop it physically, then we must take physical action to make it stop.
- For example, if Muslims are oppressed somewhere and a nation has the power to stop them physically, it should take action to prevent that oppression.
- On the other hand, if it is not possible for someone to take any physical action, then they must use their power of language and speak out against the oppression.
- Therefore, speaking out, writing or raising voice against evil is also a person’s contribution in stopping it.
- Finally, if that isn’t possible, we should at least consider a wrong thing to be wrong in our hearts. However, it must be noted that such an approach has been considered the weakest faith of a person.
- Therefore, the first priority should be to physically and verbally stop such actions.
- Not doing anything substantial and just considering such an evil thing to be bad inside is considered a weak form of faith.
- It was said: O Messenger of Allah, who is the most excellent of men? The Messenger of Allah (may Allah
bless him and give him peace) said: ‘The believer who strives hard in the way of Allah with his person and his
property”- To submit oneself fully to the will of Allah is the basic requirement of Islam.
- Without being completely indulged in the worship of Allah, a person can not be a true Muslim.
- The Holy Prophet PBUH acknowledged this when he was asked regarding the excellent form of person.
- He mentioned that a person is an excellent first that he believes in Allah and Isla
- While believing in Allah and Islam, the person must also completely strive and put effort in the way of Allah through his person.
- It means that physically, emotionally, verbally and in all other ways that his body can serve the Cause of Allah.
- Secondly, he must ensure that he also submits his property in the way of Allah
- There are multiple ways of doing this.
- First, the person must pay Zakat when due.
- Secondly, he should help other people if he ash the money
- In times of Jihad, making contributions to support the army is another method as well.
- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace) said: ‘Whom do you count to be a martyr
among you?’ They said: O Messenger of Allah, whoever is killed in the way of Allah is a martyr. He said: ‘In that
case the martyrs of my community will be very few! He who is killed in the way of Allah is a martyr, he who dies
a natural death in the way of Allah is a martyr, he who dies in the plague in the way of Allah is a martyr, he who
dies of cholera in the way of Allah is a martyr.’- Martyrdom is considered a great honor in Islam.
- However, being killed in the way of Allah fighting a battle is not the only form of martyr. Instead, there are many different forms of martyrdom that have been specified in Islam.
- The Holy Prophet PBUH mentioned that if the definition is only taken to be people who are killed in the way of Allah, then there will only be a few martyrs in the Muslim community.
- Instead, there are other categories as well.
- If someone was striving in the way of Allah, for example, trying to preach Islam and still dies a natural death, he will be given the status of a martyr as well.
- Similarly, people who die of plague which means a pandemic will also be considered martyr.
- Same goes for cholera pandemic.
- Therefore, any unnatural death in the way of Allah will also be considered martyrdom.
- No one eats better food than that which he eats out of the work of his hand.
- There is extreme importance of hard work in Islam.
- More importantly, it is considered a foul thing is Islam to beg for food or income.
- Instead, any work that provides a halal way of earning is considered respectable in Islam.
- The current hadith stresses on the same idea as well.
- It is stressed that if someone earns with his hard work ad eats something, that is the best food for him.
- In other words, if someone strives to make an income to feed himself, he has done a virtue than getting food from any other way.
- One who manages the affairs of the widow and the poor man is like the one who exerts himself in the way of
Allah, or the one who stands for prayer in the night or fasts in the day- Widows and poor people are weak in the society.
- They need care and protection to live a safe and happy life.
- However, most people are not interested in going out of their way to help either of the two categories.
- Therefore, it has been considered a great virtue in Islam if someone takes this route and helps both categories.
- The current hadith states that if someone takes care of these categories, then the virtue he gains is the same as someone who has exerted himself in the way of Allah.
- In other words, the virtue is considered synonymous to Jihad in the way of Allah.
- It has also been considered similar to spending the entire night praying to Allah and entire day fasting.
- Therefore, it is one of the biggest and most fruitful virtues in Islam.
- ‘I and the man who brings up an orphan will be in paradise like this.’ And he pointed with his two fingers, the
index finger and the middle finger.- Orphans are usually the most ignored part of any society
- People don’t want to help them and many people end up taking benefit of them, or taking away their property.
- It must be note that orphans rights are a huge thing in Islam
- Even the and for Masjid e Nabawi was PURCHASED from orphans not taken for free.
- The Holy Prophet PBUH has attached great importance to treating orphans fairly.
- He said that someone who helps in the upbringing of an orphan will be so close to the Prophet PBUH in paradise just like the index and middle finger has no space between them
- Therefore, helping orphans is a great ay of coming close to the Prophet PBUH in paradise, which is a huge privilege.
- At the same time, it is something that is of great virtue and guarantees entry into paradise as well.
- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace) sent Abu Musa and Mu‘adh ibn Jabal to
Yaman, and he sent each of them to govern a part. Then he said: ‘Be gentle and do not be hard, and cause
rejoicing and do not alienate.’- Managing the affairs of a state when ruling an area is a huge responsibility
- A person in such position will be inquired regarding their actions in this position on the day of Judgement.
- Therefore, we find many Hadith that guide a leader on how to effectively fulfill this position.
- When to notable Ashab were being sent to govern an area, they were provided instructions on the things they need to be careful of.
- First, they must be gentle with their subjects.
- Therefore, a leader must be gentle and not take a hard line, otherwise people will find it hard to stay with him and may have issues in maintaining their place as well.
- Concurrently, a leader should try to make people happy and their lives better.
- In times of problems and issues, a leader must not leave his subjects or stop helping them
- Fleeing in desperate times is an unworthy act as well.
- He who studies the Qur’an is like the owner of tethered camels. If he attends to them he will keep hold of them,
but if he lets them loose they will go away.- Here, an example from the worldly affairs has been given to stress the importance of reading and maintaining a connection with the Quran.
- Someone who memories the Quran or studies it must know that it is an activity that must be done regularly.
- If a person stops reading the Quran for some time or completely stops studying it, whatever they have studied/ memorized will go away from their memory as well.
- The example has been given of camels
- If a person lets their camel loose, they will disperse and go away.
- Instead, someone tethering camels must ensure that they are always in a nice grip and constantly taken care of.
- Similarly, someone studying the Quran must study it regularly to ensure that it never gets out of their memory
- It also means that the Quran must be applied in daily life to make it a regular part of a person’s existence.
- May God show mercy to a man who is kindly when he sells, when he buys, and when he demands his money
back.- Usually, dealing with trade and money are stressful transactions, and people often end up drifting away from moral standards in such dealings,
- As a result, exceptional stress has been placed in dealing with such matters kindly as politely
- The Holy Prophet PBUH makes a dua in this hadith that Allah will have mercy on a person who is kind in his financial transactions
- Being kind when selling something means selling the right item, and charging the right price for it.
- It also means that a person selling a product should sell the right quantity and avoid any mixing or illegal/ immoral action of any sort.
- Secondly, when buying something, a person must be patient and ignore or deal politely with any genuine, unintentional errors instead of creating a big deal out of every situation.
- Finally, when demanding your money back, it is important to be polite.
- If we get our money late, people can often get angry and it cause cause stress.
- Some people should or abuse in such a mood.
- However, it has been advised to be at good behavior when demanding a loan back because that shows character and strength of a person.
- God will not show mercy to him who does not show mercy to others.
- A simple formula has been mentioned here that to gain God’s mercy and blessings, a person should be merciful to others.
- Many people expect Allah’s mercy that Allah will forgive them or have blessings on them while they are merciless with other people.
- Such mercilessness could be regarding one’s parents, spouse, children, slaves, general community, poor people, widows, orphans, neighbors or anyone.
- Even being merciless to a non-Muslim without provocation is not allowed.
- If a person expects mercy from Allah, they have to show mercy to other people as well.
- More importantly, they have to ensure that other people can feel comfortable and safe around them.
- In case someone makes a mistake, we must deal with them politely and not ridicule them
- Similarly, we should not try to hurt someone if they have made a mistake as well.
- The believers are like a single man; if his eye is affected he is affected, and if his head is affected he is all
affected.- This hadith tells about the unity of the Muslim Ummah
- No believer is just an individual
- Instead, each believer is part of the wider body of the Muslim community.
- If anyone amongst the believers is affected, then it will affect the entire Muslim community
- The example is similar of the body, if one part of the body is in pain, others can’t be at relief
- If our Muslim brothers are at a problem in one area, we must help them without thinking if they are directly related to us or not.
- Otherwise, the Muslim community will lose its unity and strength.
- Modesty produces nothing but good
- Modesty means ensuring that you are chaste and pure
- It also means that a man must lower his gaze as has been prescribed in Islam
- We must protect our private parts in public
- More importantly, keeping private life private is also a part of Modesty
- The example of Hazrat Usman can be given as well.
- It is important to practice modesty because it’s practice will only produce benefits and improvements.
- It also ensures that the society as a whole remains chaste
- Many vices are prevented if modesty is practiced.
- He who has in his heart as much faith as a grain of mustard seed will not enter hell, and he who has in his heart
as much pride as a grain of mustard seed will not enter paradise.- The importance of faith has been mentioned in this hadith.
- Faith is the most important part of a person’s spiritual existence.
- Someone without faith will eventually lose the application of Islam in other areas as well.
- Here, the Prophet PBUH mentions the simplest rule of deciding who will enter heaven and hell
- A mustard seed, like a very small quantity of faith, can be the discerning factor between someone entering paradise or not.
- Moreover, pride and haughtiness is considered a discerning quality of Allah. It is one quality that only suits the creator and Supreme Being. No other being deserves to claim even the smallest pride
- Therefore, someone who has even the smallest amount of pride in him will not enter paradise.
- A Muslim should remove pride completely from his being to ensure that they have real faith and can enter paradise on the day of Judgement.
- The world is the believer’s prison and the unbeliever’s paradise.
- This hadith summarizes the reality of this world in the most easiest method.
- For a believer, there are many things he has to protect himself from.
- There are many attractive things in this world that are vices and have to be prevented.
- As a result, the world has been described as a prison for the believer because he will protect himself from such issues to ensure that his Aakhirat is safe and he can enter paradise when he dies.
- However, for the unbeliever, there is no check and balance.
- He can perform all the vices like drinking, gambling or adultery etc.
- There is no moral check and balance on them.
- For this reason, because they don’t believe in life after death, they do everything here in this world, making it a paradise for them
- However, it is an illusion and short-lived because once they die, they will realize that the real life has now started and they won’t enter paradise.
- God does not look at your forms and your possessions, but he looks at your hearts and your deed
- It is an extremely important hadith that tells us how a person is judged in the eyes of Allah
- For people in this world, many would rank the other person based on what he can afford and what he owns
- Therefore, we see that people give more respect and importance to rich people while poor people are ridiculed in the society
- However, in the eyes of Allah, material belongings have no meaning.
- Instead, he considers the soul of the person and their piety to be the prime determinant of who is better than the other.
- Similarly, the good deeds a person performs will elevate their status in the eyes of Allah.
- For example, when Holy Prophet PBUH send Zaid’s marriage proposal to his cousin, he mentioned the same thing that Allah considers piety as the supreme consideration and Zaid is extremely pious.
